Not many are aware that the famous acai berry is able to help your eyesight. Perhaps this is because this particular health benefit has been overshadowed by all of the other benefits the acai berry has to offer.
But how exactly does the acai berry have such a profound effect on how you see?
Well, it is because the berry contains what is called anthocyanins and these anthocyanins, which are present in other foods, have been known to have an incredible effect on eyesight. Here is the perfect example:
In World War II, British pilots were famous for their ability to bring down German planes, even when visibility was less than optimal. This is because they were told by their superior officers to go on a blueberry diet. Blueberry, like the acai berry, contains plenty of anthocyanins and, as you probably can guess, this is why their eyesight improved enough to be able to see better in the dark and in less than favorable conditions. However, the acai berry actually contains more anthocyanins than the blueberry, so it is fair to say that quite the positive effect will be experienced.
But you most likely don’t fly a warplane, so why should you turn to an acai berry-based drink to improve your eyesight?
The answer is simple…
The eyes are so delicate, damage prone, and complex that we have to protect them in every way we possibly can. Introducing an acai drink that you can have anytime, anywhere can greatly enhance their function. No, you don’t have to be doing a task that is comparable to shooting down enemy planes in World War II. Simple tasks such as reading a road sign or seeing the channel guide on the television are made much easier.
And yes, there have been studies that prove eyesight will improve. For instance, a study done in 1964 on 36 individuals was conducted to see if there was improvement on how quickly their eyes adapted to changing lighting conditions. The adaptation rate was tested before anthocyanins were introduced and then tested after. After just a few hours, there was noticeable improvement in the adaptation rate.
Furthermore, a more recent Japanese study showed that just 50mg of anthocyanins improved the adaptation rate of the eyes. The subjects also became less susceptible to eye strain and eye fatigue. When just 20mg was introduced there was little or no effect, so this is why you need plenty of acai berry in your diet and an acai drink is the easiest way to achieve this.
If an acai drink will improve your eyesight, just imagine what else it will improve.
